Shen Ho Shi

The House of Sylvan Harmonies

Shen Ho Shi, or “The House of Sylvan Harmonies,” was originally built by the Atkins family and later used as the summer home of Conner Prairie’s founder Eli Lilly. Sparked by Lilly’s interest in Chinese art and culture, Shen Ho Shi reflects one of the finest individual Chinese art collections in the country. Each room invites you to explore paintings, Asian furniture, and intricate architectural elements that also illuminate Lilly’s artistic touches.

Originally a retreat for family, friends, and business colleagues, the now restored house also includes two important additions: The Lilly Legacy Room at Shen Ho Shi and The Bluffs. The Lilly Legacy Room is designed to have a lasting impact on Conner Prairie and showcases Lilly’s motivation for blending eastern and western cultures into a harmonious space.

The Bluffs is an addition to Shen Ho Shi and serves as a gathering place for special events. Through our community partnership with the Ritz Charles, this banquet facility that accentuates breathtaking views of the White River is expanding the Lilly legacy as a special gathering place for generations to come.
