River Crossing

Open for the season!

Our Civil War-themed splash area is the perfect place to cool down during your visit. Kids can have fun boarding the Alice Dean steamboat, firing water cannons, guiding toy boats along the river, and more. This area is full of hands-on activities that encourage pretend play and family interaction.

Splash and Play

It's June 1863, and the Atwater Family of Indiana is getting ready to bring crops and wares to market. Luckily, they live close to the river, and can get there by boat! Upon arrival, the family is greeted by captain of the Alice Dean and prepare to depart, but not before taking some time to explore the steamboat!

We've created this experience with your comfort and convenience in mind. Large storage cubbies can accommodate towels and beach bags, and dimmable lights in the nursing room create a relaxing experience for those nursing a baby or a quiet space. An additional shady spots outdoors invites adults to relax in the shade while keeping an eye on their children. (*Due to COVID-19, some elements of this play area may be unavailable.)

River Crossing is located within our Civil War Journey section.
