American Sign Language Tours at A Merry Prairie Holiday
December 13 and 21, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. For guests who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, we will be offering ASL tours. Each tour will be guided by an ASL interpreter who will communicate between guests and historical interpreters. Fun in the Forge
Fun in the Forge
At Fun in the Forge, you will have the opportunity to be a blacksmith for a day. Create simple projects such as hooks, a flint and steel firestarter (with instructions on how to use it) and a dinner bell. All tools and materials will be provided. The Magic and Science of Dairying: Making Soft Cheese, Cultured Butter and Other Dairy Treats
March 15, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Saturday, March 15: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
This hands-on experience focuses on how important and easy it is to learn the techniques of dairying. In this five-hour workshop we will focus on wholesome soft cheese and two types of butter, plus other historic dairy treats! You will develop and create your very own cheese recipe using herbs. Be prepared to make and taste your very own creation, but save some room to taste other dairy treats, including potted cheese and ice cream. Learn more about our historic classes.
This class is for individuals ages 12+. Anyone under the age of 16 must register with an adult.

About the Teacher
Julie Beach has a passion for dairy whether it be milking goats, making cheese, butter or ice cream. Julie’s knowledge spans from tending to the dairy animals to making fresh dairy products in historic and modern kitchens. She has learned from masters at their craft and applies this art, science and knowledge to make delicious dairy treats.
