American Sign Language Tours at A Merry Prairie Holiday
December 13 and 21, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. For guests who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, we will be offering ASL tours. Each tour will be guided by an ASL interpreter who will communicate between guests and historical interpreters. Groups will make stops at the Golden Eagle Inn, a campfire to warm up with songs and stories with Prairietown locals, the soiree at the Campbell House, the home of the Turner family to learn about nineteenth-century African American holiday customs,…

Fun in the Forge
Fun in the Forge
At Fun in the Forge, you will have the opportunity to be a blacksmith for a day. Create simple projects such as hooks, a flint and steel firestarter (with instructions on how to use it) and a dinner bell. All tools and materials will be provided. Leaf and Flower Pounding

Spring brings out the best in nature’s colors as blooms come to life in a palette of endless possibilities. The season’s natural materials can be an inspiration for you to use your green thumb and create beautiful and impressive works of art in unconventional ways. Leaf and flower pounding is where you can learn how to transfer the color from flowers and leaves onto various items by using a hammer. For this class, we will teach the techniques of leaf and flower pounding and perform them on tote bags and scarves. Learn more about our historic classes.
This class is for individuals ages 12+. Anyone under the age of 16 must register with an adult.

About the Teacher
Sue Payne quite literally grew up at Conner Prairie. With her family home just up the road, Sue started volunteering at Conner Prairie and learning skills from staff at a very young age. As one of the long-term textile staff, Sue has deep skills in spinning, weaving and dyeing but it always interested in new skills and new ways of doing things.
