Lathe turning is fun and satisfying way of working wood that can range from the very practical to very artistic.
This class will introduce the basic concepts of beginning turning such as tool selection and sharpening, selecting and preparing stock, and introducing fundamental techniques such as using a skew chisel and gouge, parting, cutting concave and convex shapes and burnishing.
We'll have opportunity to work on a few projects such as a mallet, tool handle and simple candlestick.
All materials are provided.
Students are encouraged to bring eye protections such as safety glasses or face shield.
