Knifesmithing

Explore the world of historic trades at Conner Prairie’s annual Arts and Arms Making Workshop as you work alongside some of the nation’s best craftsmen.

 

Under the guidance of Dwight Gallian, you’ll learn about the history and creation of a traditional hand-forged knife. Topics include proper steel selection, use of a coal forge and anvil, filing, and finishing a handle. You can expect to complete at least one knife during class. Tools required. Please note, this class meets Wednesday, October 11 from 1-5 pm and Thursday and Friday, October 12-13 from 8 am-5 pm. By clicking on "purchase tickets" below, you are able to register once for all three sessions.
