Advanced Hornworking: Screw Tip Powder Horn

Explore the world of historic trades at Conner Prairie’s annual Arts and Arms Making Workshop as you work alongside some of the nation’s best craftsmen.

Work alongside master hornsmith, Art DeCamp, to make a Virginia Style screw tip powder horn. Utilizing reference materials, students will be able to select a horn that suits their personal taste and experience level.  Basic hornworking techniques such as heating, pressing, lathe work, finishing and coloring of horn will be covered. Returning students are encouraged to bring unfinished horn projects to class for assistance in finishing.

Tools required.

Please note: this class is a five day session. By purchasing tickets, you will be registering once for all days of the session.

Schedule:
October 5-8 (Sat.-Tues.), 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
October 9 (Wed.), 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
