Arbor Day

Join us for a “tree-rific” time as we investigate the world of trees.

Supported by DNR Division of Forestry

It's a perfect time to get outside and explore nature! During Arbor Day, you can talk with foresters and discover what trees grow in Indiana and how they are used, and meet local craftsmen as they demonstrate their skills.

Explore the grounds to see how many different types of trees you can identify. How about making your own Treetop Outpost? End your visit by getting your own free tree to take home and plant (while supplies last).

Tree Give-A-Way
Pick up a free tree sapling, courtesy of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry. Trees are first come, first served and available while supplies last.

mcclure-shop.jpg Carpenter Shop
Stop by the McClure Carpenter Shop in Prairietown to explore how wood was used and made into everyday objects in 1836. Discover how different wood is used for different functions and which may be the favorite of the carpenter.

Tree Leaf Guide
Leaves may be one of the easiest ways to identify a tree. Make your own leaf guide to take on your next outdoor adventure.

Circle City Carvers
Meet wood carvers from the Circle City Carvers and discover how they create unique objects out of wood.
