Holiday Adventures

Bundle up and experience an 1836 winter season with a visit to the homes and businesses in Prairietown!

View the schedule and map.

Discover things that may surprise you about the season in 1836 with the NEW Holiday Adventure card, giving you the opportunity to seek, find and learn as you visit Prairietown.

Find out who marks December 25 as a holiday and who doesn’t. Learn the secret purpose behind a dreidel from the immigrating Ullman family. Choose to celebrate with Ezra Higby and his band of rowdies or try to win an invite to the Campbell’s soiree.

Help the Zimmerman family keep their traditions by finding clues to their missing Belznichol coat. Join them December 27-28 as they butcher a hog and preserve the meat for the rest of the year, a vital wintertime chore.

Indoors, explore the science of baking, see historical chocolate processing techniques, and be an actor for the day when you participate in the popular ‘Anything Can Happen Theater.’

Also, be sure to stroll through our Gingerbread Village indoors.
