Enter the southern Indiana town of Dupont following a raid by

Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan and his cavalry. Experience life

on the northern homefront and meet its citizens before deciding if you

would enlist in the army to defend your hometown. Along the way, take

in theatrical presentations that use audio, visual and special effects

technology to put you into the middle of the raid. From Memorial Day

through Labor Day bring the kids (ages 2-10) to the

River Crossing

Play Area

, an indoor/outdoor Civil War-themed area complete with a

climbable steamboat, splash pad and water cannons.

Venture indoors and play with wind while trying to keep an

aircraft aloft. Emulate industrious Hoosiers of the 1950s by designing

your own invention in the patent office. Challenge yourself by putting

wind to work by building a real windmill. And, through March 27, you

can learn about John Wise and his 1859 balloon voyage. Discover how

all these science, technology, engineering and math feats have a place

in Indiana history.

Children ages 8 and younger are in charge at Discovery Station,

with opportunities to play, explore and even build their very own

hideaways. Climb up a tree-like structure, read a book inside the book

hive, pretend to be a farmer or storekeeper, listen to a story, or dress

up as a critter. Toddlers and crawlers have a tot friendly space just for

them. In

Craft Corner

(through April 9) come explore our Pop-Up Maker

Workshop, a temporary, creative space for kids ages 3 and older where

everyone can be a maker. Beginning April 11, Craft Corner activities

return and young artists can experiment with a variety of materials to

create awesome art and cool crafts.
