Page Background

Students aged 10-18 who excel in our youth volunteer program are

chosen to become Youth Agriculture Captains, or YACs. They take on

additional responsibilities like answering guest questions, caring for the

animals and even representing Conner Prairie at conferences, where they

speak about big issues like food security and animal handling.

YACs serve as the right hand to our agricultural staff. It’s an unparalleled

leadership opportunity that includes field trips, year-round training and

acquiring a deep knowledge of animal care. Through this program, these

young adults become more capable and confident.

“This land was once used as an

experimental farm, and today it

lives on as a vital resource. Kids

are removed from these kinds of

experiences. Conner Prairie helps

keep them front and center.”
