Trying to decide which program is right for you? Here is some information about the Weekend on the Farm and the Day on the Farm experiences, and you can choose the one that best suits you.

What is Conner Prairie?
Conner Prairie is one of the nation’s most authentic, open-air living history museums. It is located in central Indiana, just six miles northeast of Indianapolis.

What type of food is prepared?
All meals for both programs will be prepared according to 19th-century recipes. We will adapt menus to meet special dietary needs; however, this information must be supplied upon registration so that proper arrangements can be made. The meals will vary and be seasonally appropriate.

Sample Meals:
Breakfast: fried ham, buckwheat pancakes, eggs, oatmeal mush, coffee & milk                                               

Dinner: roast beef, mashed potatoes, dried corn & lima beans, cream slaw, apple pie, tea & coffee                

Supper: cold sliced beef, warm biscuits with syrup, pickles, cheese, ginger snaps, peach shortcake & cream, tea & coffee

Is this program handicapped accessible?
We will do our best to assist individuals with physical limitations; however, keep in mind that much of this program takes place outside in the barns, fields, woods and gardens and that there is strenuous work involved. Wheelchair accessible bedrooms are available on the first floor of the farmhouse if you choose the Weekend on the Farm program.

What time does the program begin and end?
The Weekend on the Farm experience is 24 hours long and begins at 3 pm on day one and concludes at 3 pm on day two. The Day on the Farm experience is 10 hours long and begins at 10:30 am and ends at 8:30 pm that same day.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations received more than 90 days prior to the start date of your experience will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations received 61-90 days prior to the start date of your experience will receive a 75% refund of the total amount paid. Cancellations received 31-60 days prior to the start date of your experience will receive a 50% refund of the total amount paid. Cancellations received 30 days or less prior to the start date of your experience will not receive a refund.                  

If I choose the Weekend on the Farm…

What items should I bring from home?

Personal hygiene needs (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.), towel and washcloth, clothing and sleepwear, sturdy shoes, necessary medications (refrigeration available if necessary) and most importantly, your sense of adventure.                                                                               

What items should I leave at home?

Modern electronic equipment (CD players, radios, electronic games, cell phones and pagers), blow dryers, curling irons, electric razors, make up, snacks and an alarm clock.  

              

What are the sleeping accommodations?

Most farmhouse bedrooms have two full-size beds. Families will be placed in the same room. Individuals making reservations by themselves will be paired with another individual of the same sex. Single room occupancy accommodations can be made for an additional surcharge. Bedding is provided. To provide you with a complete 19th-century experience, all rooms will include a washbowl and pitcher for washing. A privy is located in the backyard and chamber pots are available for nighttime bathroom needs. Modern restroom facilities are also available for overnight guests.
