A Bit of History
A New Day, A New Life
It all begins with a new home. Spend a weekend at the Zimmerman's Victorian-era
farmhouse at Conner Prairie, one of the nation's most authentic and entertaining
living history museums. This farmhouse is part of a recreated 1886 rural community
called Liberty Corner. Here, you and 11 other guests will experience 19th-century
life first-hand!
Plenty of Work
You'll want to get an early start during your stay at the farm. Prepare a 19th-century
breakfast, feed the livestock, clean the house, do the laundry, split wood, muck
the barn stalls, work in the fields and tend the garden and more!
Tradin' Places
Was life in 1886 harder for the men or the women? Find out for yourself! Weekend
on the Farm provides the opportunity to discover men's, women's and children's roles
on a farm. Make sure you're at school when the bell rings…you won't want to be late
for recitations and daily lessons.
Fun and Games
Life in 1886 isn't all work. Relax and have fun! Play base ball, attend
a barn dance, start a croquet match, enjoy parlor games, take a wagon ride or join
the sing-along at the pump organ. If you want a quieter activity, try a new craft
or write a letter.
The Perfect Experience for…
adults, teens and children, museum and history enthusiasts, educators and
college students, corporate team-building retreats, clubs and associations and anyone
with a sense of adventure! Read an article about the Weekend on the Farm
experience in Metroparent Magazine, Milwaukee.
