Seasonal Programs 

Woodland Indians: Art and Culture
Members of the Delaware Tribe from Oklahoma travel to Conner Prairie to present this special program on their history and culture. Students will attend six sessions, including an outdoor dance program. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 317.776.6000, ext. 276.

Dates:   Monday-Friday, October 2-6, 2006
Times:   9:30 am-1:30 pm
Length:   4 hours
Cost:   $4.50/student; $4.50/adult chaperone

Follow the North Star
Learn about the Underground Railroad in a personal, dramatic way. This immersion history program gives students the opportunity to role-play a group of fugitive slaves traveling through Indiana in the 1830s. Attendance at a mandatory training session is required for all adult leaders prior to the date of your visit.

Who:   Grades 8-12
Dates:   Fall: November 6, 7, 13, 14 & 15, 2006
Spring: March 20, 21, 22 & 27 & April 3, 10, 17, 24, 2007
Times:   9 am-1 pm, groups of 15 are scheduled every 15 minutes
Fall reservations accepted now; spring reservations open at 8:30 am on November 16, 2006. Phone calls will be taken in the order received. Please do not leave a message.
Length:   1½ hours
Cost:   $7/student (deposit required)
One adult free with every 14 students; $7/additional adult

Prairie Holiday
Time travel back to December 1836 and explore the history of familiar holiday traditions. Some residents in Prairietown are preparing for celebrations and others are going about daily routines. This program includes a visit to the Golden Eagle Inn, Schoolhouse, Whitaker Store and Curtis House.

Times:   9 am-12:20 pm
Groups of 25 are scheduled every 20 minutes
Length:   1¾ hours

Maple Sugar Magic
Explore the history of maple sugaring in Indiana in this outdoor program. Discover how Native Americans change sap to syrup and sugar, learn about maple sugaring techniques in 1836 and see 1880s methods. Discuss modern methods and sample pure maple syrup.
