We’re going back to the river, to our roots, to where it all began. As the saying goes, “What’s old is new again.” We are getting back to nature and continuing to focus on two of our greatest assets – our land and the White River. The White River provided a means of transportation, a source for food, and routes for trade to the people who came before us. Conner Prairie is excited to create pathways to experience these great assets with our new Nature Amphitheater Stage and White River Overlook. These new nature engagement areas will be opening this summer, so be sure to keep an eye out for more information in the coming months.
The Nature Amphitheater Stage will be nestled in the trees beside our popular Treetop Outpost experience area. This 50-seat, outdoor amphitheater will feature a covered, raised stage for nature chats, performances, and storytelling that highlight the richness of the natural world around us. White River Overlook will not only be a place to visit nature’s beauty, but will also highlight the history and ecology of the waterway with interpretive signage. We look forward to unveiling these wonderful additions this summer, as we continue to connect to our past by creating experiences for today that begins to have an eye for our future at Conner Prairie.
