What I’m thankful for …

We have had a record-breaking year of daily visitors to Conner Prairie and those who attended our programs, special events and mission-related activities. This success is directly attributed to the talent, skills and dedication of our hard-working employees and volunteers. I am thankful because without these dedicated and talented folks, we would not have been able to achieve these great heights:

  • Record attendance in eight months this year, including an all-time record-breaking attendance month in October when we welcomed nearly 75,000 visitors
  • A projected all-time record attendance of 425,000
  • Record participation in free day activities like Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live!, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day
  • Record attendance at special events, including Curiosity Fair and Festival of Machines
  • Record revenue at Headless Horseman
  • Record educational programming by welcoming nearly 60,000 students throughout the state and our summer day camps
  • National and local awards and recognition from our peers for exhibits, theater and professional leadership
  • Launch of Conner Prairie’s first comprehensive master plan for the entire property that will chart our progress for decades to come

Well, I believe you get the picture. I could easily go on with a hundred more bullets of success this past year, all because of the people I have the pleasure to serve with.

Finally, I’m thankful to complete our new executive leadership team with the hiring of three new vice presidents. This team will bring renewed energy and vision to the organization while complimenting the passion and creativity of colleagues with whom they will be working.
