The Apple Store

The Apple Store is operated by the volunteer fundraising group called Conner Prairie Alliance. The Apple Store is their primary fundraiser with proceeds supporting the mission and programs of Conner Prairie. For two months a year these volunteers are super busy selling all things apple including the famous caramel-dipped apples. Last fall alone they dipped 14,323 caramel apples! Delicious Ideas using Apple Store Products
For those times you need to make a quick and easy appetizer, try these simple cheese pairings:
Roll a log of goat cheese in some chopped pecans and sprinkle with Brendle Honey Farm honey. Serve with water crackers.
Spoon some Apple Store Blueberry Preserves, Wild Blueberry Spread, or Red Jalapeno Jelly over a block of cream cheese. The Blueberry Preserves or Spread would also work well with goat cheese. Serve with your favorite crackers.
Spoon some Apple Store Pear Preserves or Peach Preserves over a wedge of Brie cheese. Serve with your favorite crackers.
For a simple lunch or light dinner, mix Salsa Me Crazy Salsa with shredded chicken and serve over rice or in a wrap.
Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup plus 2 T. firmly packed light brown sugar
¾ cup sugar
4 tsp. ground cinnamon
¾ tsp. salt
½ tsp. ground ginger
¾ cup canola oil
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. tart green apples, peeled, cored, chopped
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
Preheat oven to 325. Butter and flour 9 inch square pan. Mix flour, brown sugar, sugar,
2 ½ tsp. cinnamon, salt and ginger in large bowl. Add oil and stir until mixture resembles coarse meal. Transfer ¾ cup of mixture to a small bowl. Stir remaining 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon into mixture in small bowl and reserve for topping. Mix baking soda and baking powder into flour mixture in large bowl. Add apples. Whisk buttermilk and egg in another small bowl to blend. Add to apple mixture and stir just until combined. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle reserved topping evenly over. Bake approximately 40 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
