FISHERS, Ind. (Sept. 22, 2010) – Headless Horseman is returning to Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, Indiana’s only Smithsonian Affiliate, on Oct. 15-17, 21-24 and 28-30. The 27th annual Headless Horseman will feature the popular haunted hayride with the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, plus spooky storytelling, puppet shows, glow in the dark activities, scary-o-ke and the Disney movie “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
New this year, guests can learn how to create movie perfect make-up from the artists of Hugabug, and get up close to creepy animals at the Have No Fear animal show by Animalia. 1859 Balloon Voyage will be flying during Headless Horseman (weather permitting) to provide guests an opportunity to experience the spooky sites from 350 feet in the air. Guests can also enjoy caramel apples, apple cider, kettle corn and s’mores.

Learn how to create movie make-up perfect for Halloween, have your face painted or get a temporary tattoo.

Get up close and personal to creepy animals like snakes, rats, tarantulas, lizards and skunks; presented by Animalia.
•Scary Science
Oct 23 & 24; 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Find your inner mad scientist and bottle a ghost, create a glowing piece of art, watch an electrical show and more.
•Paranormal Investigators
Oct. 28, 29 & 30; 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Indiana SPI and Quest Paranormal Research will explain their equipment as well as the process and protocol of performing an investigation and a behind-the-scenes peek at the paranormal.
Conner Prairie is looking for award-winning carved pumpkins for display during Headless Horseman. Prizes will be given for the most creative, most traditional and people’s choice pumpkins. Entries must be received by Friday, Oct. 8 at 6:00 p.m. An entry form and additional details can be found at connerprairie.org.
Headless Horseman presale tickets are available beginning Monday, Sept. 27 at participating Marsh and O’Malia stores. Thursday and Sunday tickets are $8 presale and $10 at the gate. Friday and Saturday tickets are $12 presale and $14 at the gate. Gates are open 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. nightly, and hayrides and activities may run past 10:00 p.m. Hayride times are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Basic-level members are free on Thursday and Sunday nights. Plus-level members are free every night.
Guests can extend their Headless Horseman fun with an overnight adventure. Be a special guest on a reserved hayride, a balloon flight (weather permitting), a night hike and more. Youth groups of ages 8-12 accompanied with an adult can reserve space for Saturday, Oct. 16. Reservations must be made by Saturday, Oct. 2. Times are 6:30 p.m. Saturday through 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
