Conner Prairie Open Free in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

WHAT:             Conner Prairie will be free and open to the public in celebration of the King Holiday. To commemorate the holiday, Conner Prairie has joined in celebration with the other arts and culture institutions in the area to honor the slain civil rights leader’s memory.
                         PLEASE NOTE: The outdoor historic areas are closed to the public with the exception of timed Conner House tours.
 
WHEN:             Monday, January 19, 2008, 10am - 5pm
 
WHERE:           Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers
 
DETAILS:         All indoor activities including Conner Prairie’s Museum Center and Discovery Station, an indoor play area for children ages two through five, will be open for guests.

Main floor
Discovery Station
Let your imagination run wild in the indoor play and learning area for toddlers and up!
 
Craft Corner - “We Are Alike” People Quilt and “I Have a Dream” Mural
Decorate a paper doll then join its hands to others or share your dreams on a Martin Luther King, Jr. mural.
Coloring
Use crayons, markers and colored pencils to color a picture of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
 
Outside Craft Corner - Lenape Indian Activity
Make a Native American craft or join in a game of dice.
 
Outdoors
Conner Home Tours
Explore the historic Conner house believed to be the first brick home in central Indiana.
 
Second Floor
Wapihani - Paper Balloon Craft
Assemble a paper balloon and join in the excitement of the new 1859 Balloon Voyage opening this summer.
 
Valentine’s Day Cards
Decorate a card filled with love to send to soldiers overseas.
 
Delaware Room - Science Theater
Get a sneak peak at our “shocking” new science experience.
 
Lilly Theater - “I Have a Dream” Video Presentation
Watch Martin Luther King, Jr.’s most famous speech. (60 minutes)
