Civil War Days: May 19 and 20, 2007
Civil War Days allows Conner Prairie guests an opportunity to explore an important period of Indiana history by witnessing a battle reenactment, artillery demonstrations, infantry camps and drills.
Attendance for the 07 Civil War Days far exceeded expectations. Totaling 8,078 guests on Saturday and Sunday, Conner Prairie saw a 481% increase over 2004. Attendance increased by 166% over 2006.
Indiana Festival: June 2 and 3, 2007
The Indiana Festival is a cultural outdoor event that celebrates the arts, music and people of the Midwest and features an Art and Craft Marketplace, five stages of entertainment, a kids’ activity area, cultural games and a variety of ethnic cuisine.
Indiana Festival also set record breaking attendance with 8,255 guests over the weekend. Attendance increased 91% over 2005, the first year of the festival and 34% over 2006.
"We are delighted by the increasing community interest in Conner Prairie,” said Ellen Rosenthal, president and CEO of Conner Prairie. “The significant rise in attendance at these key events reflects our staff's relentless efforts to improve programming and find new ways to engage our guests."
Conner Prairie is gearing up for its next event, Glorious Fourth June 30 – July 4, 2007 along with the grand-opening of a new experience area, Discovery Station, on July 20.
“We developed Discovery Station in response to visitors' requests for more things to do at Conner Prairie when the weather is not favorable,” said Rosenthal. “It will be a magnet for families with young children.”
